Bay Area Climate Adaptation Network

by | Feb 27, 2026

A member-led coalition that unites community-based organizations, local governments, and regional partners advancing climate resilience across the Bay Area. Acting as the region’s climate librarian and connector, BayCAN links projects with the right people, resources, funding, and technical expertise to help them succeed.

“I realized BayCAN was where cities and counties and state government were coming together around climate resilience. I wanted to help them give more communities a seat at the table, create a safe space for those conversations, and achieve BayCAN’s equity goals. CBOs and NGOs cannot do everything by themselves.”

Focus

BayCAN focuses on adaptation challenges in water supply, sea level rise, wastewater and stormwater management, wildfires, ecosystems, and public health. BayCAN collaborates with current initiatives in these sectors to maximize impact and build on existing knowledge.

BayCAN brings its members together at both a regional and subregional level, maintains a website for resource sharing, coordinates an Equity Working Group, produces a newsletter, conducts regular webinars on topics of interest, and offers consultations from BayCAN staff to help members problem-solve key issues.

Together, members are working toward a well-capacitated, climate-resilient Bay Area where communities, ecosystems, and infrastructure are prepared for and responsive to a changing climate, with frontline and local voices leading the way.
