Climate Action Groups

Plug in to local politics, activism, tree-planting and networking activities.

The list below pulls together climate-focused organizations across all nine Bay Area counties and Santa Cruz County. This is a place to find grassroots groups, advocacy organizations, and local chapters of national groups working specifically on climate action, decarbonization, fossil fuel phaseout, and climate justice.

We hope this list makes it easier to discover climate groups near you and learn how to get involved. These organizations work at the neighborhood, city, and county levels to push for policy change, organize communities, build public support for clean energy, and hold decision-makers accountable. Some focus on youth organizing or direct action, others on policy advocacy, coalition-building, or public education. Together, they form the backbone of local climate action in the region.

In this list, we’ve focused on organizations that center climate as their primary mission. For community-based organizations that focus on a wider range of environmental topics visit our CBO list here.  If you know of a local group we should include, please reach out via our contact form.
